MAKING THE MOST OF "YOUR" MASSAGE

Prior to Massage

  1. Drinking several glasses of water before and after a massage, may reduce the level of soreness and aide in the body's toxin removal.
  2. Do not eat just before a massage session.
  3. Be on time. If you arrive in a frenzied, rushed state, it will take longer to get to a relaxed state.
  4. Undressing: You will be asked to dress down to your comfort level
  5. Please give accurate health information.
  6. Be certain to let the therapist know prior to your Massage if you Bruise Easily: or if you have Allergies to fragrances, oils or lotions.
  7. Good communication is very important: Before the session, let your needs be known

During Your session

  1. Breathing helps to facilitate relaxation.
  2. Tightening up, i.e., contracting or hardening your muscles during the massage is counterproductive.
  3. If you find you Have racing thoughts during the massage, one way to be more body-centered and to quiet the mind is to follow the hands of the massage therapist and focus on how the touch feels.
  4. During the massage session, report any discomfort:

After Your Massage

  1. Drink extra water after a massage.
  2. Depending on your general physical condition, if its your first massage Or if its been several months since your last massage, it may leave you slightly sore.
  3. Massage has its greatest benefits over time.
